SURVEY RESPONSES
The survey was announced to 133 participants (we did not have email addresses to some of the guests and the organizers were excluded form the total 143).

We received 103 valid responses after removing multiple and incomplete entries.
Thus the response rate is 77.4%, which can be considered very good and gives a high statistical significance to the results.

General Comments
  • My great appreciation and thanks to the organizers. I do not know a better planned golf event. The flow of information at any given time was very appreciated. Also a big thank you to the sponsors who ad a lot of spice to the tournament and fun at the end.
  • The organization of the event was superb, incl. all communication/announcements prior to and during the tournament. The award ceremony was handled very efficiently.
  • A great event , well done to all the organizers.......a really big thanks
  • A very enjoyable event, appreciated that you where able to accomodate request to play with someone I knew. You may want to hire a photographer to take pictures of each foresome and allow the foresomes to buy the picture from the photographer it would be a nice souvenir of the event. Again thanks for organizing a great event. Scott
  • Again, a fantastic arrangement. Top of the class, it's a pleasure to participate in such a well organized game of golf. Enjoyed the team and a good day to meet new friends and say hello to old friends. Everything worked smoothly, important when these type of people get together. Thanks a lot
  • The Task force did another amazing job this year and I would like to thank you. I was a little disappointed at the end of the party this year...we did not have a group photo for the winners as we did every other year, but besides that an outstanding event. Look forward to it again next year.
  • Another enjoyable event this year. The task force always does a great job organizing this event and getting great sponsors for it.
  • one of the players who need to gain more experience each time, this was a very well organized opportunity. Enjoyed the flight and the event very much and hope to be part of it next year too.... with better result!
  • Excellent - The whole event was very well run and the taskforce should be commended as such. Copious amount of drink and prizes were sensational. Great event. Well organised. Great bunch of people who know how to enjoy themselves.... a joy just to participate.
  • The distribution of information leading up to the event was very well done and organization on the day was excellent. A great day. Look forward to the next one. Well done task force!
  • So wonderful to play & chat with other C.C.J members !!!
  • Brilliant. Well done task force. My 103 was an all-time best! Only need to drop four more shots and I'm in double-digits. A great day. My thanks to all of you.
  • I am always looking forward for the next years turnament to come. The overall atmosphere and the play speed is relatively slow and not so hectic like in a normal play in other golf courses.
  • 10 out of 10. Well done on providing an excellent day.
  • Excellent event - look forward to participating next year and improving my score in the interim.....
  • Excellent organization! Very well done. Thanks for a great experience.
  • I am lucky that I could participate in all four events. I enjoyed every time and this event is so good because the organisation and information to participants is so well done.
  • This was my first participation to the event. It was very nice day, met new people and had a lot of fun during the day!

About 15 comments similar to this: Thank you for organising this event. Tournament was great and organization was excellent! I enjoyed it a lot!
Comments about the course and play
  • An excellent day out and was very enjoyable. One criticism is that for the higher handicap players, the tees were set too far back. These should have been fairer for all standards, not just for single handicap players.
  • Where participants have a current offical handicap certificate from their home course (International or Japanese), they should be allowed to use in the competition. Fantastic tournament.............many thanks
  • Course was good, hole variety not bad and greens were probably on the quick side for this type of event. Club House while big enough to accommodate this many people, did not match the quality of Event. Course is in good proximity and prefer this not to change even if the course changes...
  • I would prefer to return to Atsugi rather than hold a smaller tournament elsewhere.
  • This is the best tournament of the year, and while the pace of play is slow and the course mediocre, I understand the problems of finding a different venue that can cope with the numbers. Congratulations again on a wonderful tournament!
  • We had a pro/fun caddie for group 11B even though my Japanese is extremely limited.

Proposed other courses: Windsor Park (4 entries); Brick & Wood, Oak Village; Morinaga Takataki; Plenty of courses in Chiba, equal in quality, much lower in cost
Comments about food and drinks
  • After the long, drawn-out battle over US beef, I thought the quality of the hamburger patties could have been a bit better...
  • One cause for Complaint - The party dinner, however, was rather thin and although the on course food was much appreciated and necessary, it was a shame that the buffet was limited in choice and unappetizing. It was a shame one came away still rather hungry.
  • Food was very poor. Otherwise I thought that the tournement was excellent!
  • I felt that the quality of the food on the course this year wasn't as good as in the past.
  • More beer to the course. We ran out of it after 5 hours of playing!!
  • Need to get Coors to provide more beer on the course. Two years running when beer is gone before 12pm. Great event! Great job task force!
  • I have enjoyed participating the past 4 years and also being a sponsor. I do have to admit though that despite the excellent organization of the event overall, the one glaring problem is the food service. Perhaps not enough money is budgeted for this but you have an event attended by many high profile business people and in particular, the food at the after party is not what should be available. My company name was specifically mentioned as being a partial sponsor of the food which I find actually quite embarrassing and imagine the other cash sponsors might have a similar feeling. I realize it is not easy to cater food for that large a group but surely this could get some attention so that future tournaments have a quality level of food that is on par with all the other excellent organization of this extremely well coordinated event.
  • Another super day out with super weather, super food together with super people. VERY ENJOYABLE!
Comments about prizes and prize ceremony
  • I was a little disappointed with the organization of the prize giving ceremony. I finished 13th, thanks to a very generous handicap!, and was called up & advised to select a pair of golf shoes. -I waited in line for several minutes as there were people in front of me. During this time other prize winners were called and it all became a bit messy. Eventually we were told that there were no shoes left and that we should take something from the table next to the podium. Whoosh!....gone in 10 seconds. There was really nothing left. I had had a great day, good company and a reasonable game of golf. I even gave back one of the major draw prizes. I was offered nothing else. In the end I left with a slightly "bitter/sweet" taste in my mouth. It is a great event and long may it continue. Perhaps you could add a charity "angle" in the future. Many thanks for listening to me!
  • I felt that the quality of the prizes didn't seem as good as in the past.
  • Why no jackets this year? There should be something along that line that everyone can take home.
  • Very well done to the organisers, and a big thank you to the sponsors , the prizes were fantastic, but,I am only sorry I did not win one of them and missed TABASCO !
Comments about new event
  • I am a bit confused as to the proposal in questions 9, 10 and what was announced at the tournament. It seems from 9&10 that you are considering to put this international team together for a tournament in the fall and then have the traditional NA vs Europe competition in the Spring, is that correct? My interpretation of the way it was announced at the tournament was that you would exclude the bottom 72 players from participation and this new format would be held in the spring. I am sure that sponsors would be happy as they could generate more media coverage, however, it seems to take away from the spirit of this entire event which was supposed to be NA vs EU in a Ryder Cup style venue. Also, since you would necessarily be excluding half of the participants, I think at least half of the people will not be happy with this format. If the idea is to have two separate touraments, I think it is fine.
  • Sure, if the fundamental concept of the participating organizations is to field "formidable" teams . . . which it is not, I think. I was mildly surprised that the members of these organizations were so focused on the competition and not enough social, etc. Perhaps that should be clear from the outset, which a competition limited to the top 72 players would certainly make clear.
  • This is a chamber iniated and oriented event, thus, it is important that it remain so and not interfere with other chamber events (ACCJ golf). The spring is a difficult time as there are only a few non-rainy times; the fall is much better since timing can be accomodative.
  • On question 11 I would like to answere yes, but I have a big questionmark if the ranking would be based on the shin peria score. In the tournament there were big swings in net scores caused by the adjusted handicap based on the shin peria. Gross score would be fair, but that might make this a bit too "serious" event.
  • I like having the Daimler Chrysler event in the Fall, and hope to see the Japan Vs N.A. event played in the spring instead.
  • Added another tournament is good and I can support that idea. Many others I know would also agree.
  • The new tournament idea is fine as long as we do not lose the original event which really brings people together for more than just competition..I'd hate to see us lose this event as it is perfect just as it is. The other event should be a separate event that celebrates the top players as suggested.
  • I joined all the Cups but quite disappointed that only the first 72 can play in the next tournament!!!!!!
  • The idea to get more attention in the media by playing an International team against a Japanese team is good. I think a great organisation that has proven to do such an event well deserves to get as much attention as possible. Just do it ! Looking forward to it.
  • The idea holding the next game in Spring to accommodate a second game against Japan is a brilliant idea. Count me in!
  • Sign me up for all of these going forward. My only concern with the top 72 representing the US/Europe versus the Japanese is - I played so badly this time I think I won't make the team but should!
